Critical Thinkers for Obama

I'm still a rotten blogger but the state of the presidential race has gotten me into such a state I must make my feelings known.  After over thirty-years on Sesame Street, inspiring kids to think, I'm dismayed that the Republican platform sneers at intellectual activity.  Palin's solutions to problems are laughably simplistic.  McCain did not think things through when he chose her as his running mate.  This sentiment that leaders should be "just like us"and just as uninformed is scary.  We wouldn't want our doctors or lawyers to be uninformed.  We should expect more from our leaders.  In the end, children and the state of education, will suffer the most.

Hola Friends,

I wonder if you are as shocked as I am about the Republican Party's platform? As someone associated with Sesame Street for over thirty-five years, I fear all my work in helping create a thoughtful and diverse society will be undone. The Republicans won't stop until they make thinking illegal, if not unpatriotic. I'm asking all my friends who enrich the lives of children, through their work as actors, writers, and puppeteers, to write a few words supporting Barack Obama.

If the Republicans win, it will be the children who will suffer the most.
